Incident Overview
A 17-year-old boy tragically lost his life after the car he was driving veered off the road and rolled in Quambone, a rural locality in NSW’s mid-west, just kilometres from his family home.

- Crash Date: Friday, July 19, 2025 (approximately 6:45pm)
- Location: Quambone Road, near Coonamble, NSW

- One private vehicle (single-vehicle incident)
Injuries/Fatalities
- Fatality: Stirling Heriot, 17-year-old driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, declared deceased at the scene
- Other Injuries: None reported
Victim Background
Stirling Heriot was a Year 12 student at The King’s School in Sydney and a passionate rower. He was also involved in rugby, cadets, and industrial technology. He was remembered by peers and educators as hardworking, kind, and deeply respected.
“He was proudly building a tandem-axle farm trailer for his major project,” the school shared.
“A young man who would have made a real difference in our community,” added his former boarding housemaster.
His mother Bridie wrote in tribute:
“My beautiful boy, how will we do life without you?”
Police Investigation
NSW Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. A report is being prepared for the coroner.
