Incident Overview
A teenager has died and another remains in a critical condition after their Mitsubishi Lancer collided with a semi-trailer at Mount Pleasant early on Saturday, 15 November. The two 18-year-old men were travelling southbound on the Bruce Highway when the vehicle struck a truck turning onto Sams Road around 1am. One occupant from Mount Pleasant died at the scene, while the other, from Blacks Beach, sustained life-threatening head injuries and was transported to Mackay Base Hospital. The truck driver was uninjured.

    • Truck driver (30s) — uninjured and declined hospital transport.

Emergency Response

  • Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Police attended shortly after the crash.
  • One occupant of the Mitsubishi Lancer was declared deceased at the scene.
  • The second occupant was transported to Mackay Base Hospital with critical head injuries.
  • The semi-trailer driver declined transport after being assessed.
