Introduction
A 13-year-old boy has tragically died after being hit by a vehicle on the Great Western Highway in Bowenfels, New South Wales. The incident occurred on Friday evening and has left the community in mourning.

Accident Overview
The accident took place on Friday, August 2nd, 2024, at approximately 6:00 PM on the Great Western Highway in Bowenfels, about 3 kilometers south of Lithgow. The boy, accompanied by a 24-year-old man, was struck by a vehicle while walking along the highway.

Tragic Outcome and Medical Response
Bystanders rushed to the aid of the young boy, performing CPR until paramedics arrived. He was then transported to Lithgow Hospital in critical condition and later airlifted to Westmead Children’s Hospital, where he sadly passed away. The 24-year-old man involved received treatment at the scene for minor injuries.

Investigation
The driver of the vehicle, a 45-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to Lithgow Hospital for mandatory testing. New South Wales Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
