The teen has been refused bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Charges and Legal Proceedings
The 17-year-old boy has been charged with seven offenses related to the crash, including:

  • One count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and leaving the scene without obtaining help.
  • Two counts of unlicensed driving.
  • Three counts of possessing dangerous drugs.
  • One count of possessing Schedule 4 or Schedule 8 medicines without a prescription.

He has also been charged with nine unrelated property crime offenses , including:

  • Four counts of possessing tainted property.
  • One count each of entering a dwelling and committing an offense, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, receiving tainted property, possession of unauthorized and prohibited explosives (ammunition), and possessing used drug utensils.

Police allege these additional charges relate to offenses committed on February 20, 2025 , including the theft of number plates in Crestmead and a burglary in Greenbank.

The teen has been refused bail and is scheduled to appear before the Beenleigh Children’s Court on Monday, February 24, 2025 , where police will oppose bail.

A 16-year-old girl who was a passenger in the vehicle is assisting police with their investigation and has not been charged.
