Incident Overview
A 14-year-old boy has died and a horse was euthanised following a three-vehicle crash on the Kamilaroi Highway at Wee Waa, near Narrabri, on Sunday, 10 August 2025. Police are appealing for a bystander who assisted at the scene to come forward.

Injuries/Fatalities

  • Deceased: 14-year-old boy, passenger in horse truck, declared dead at the scene despite first aid from a bystander and paramedics
  • Injured: 38-year-old male driver of the horse truck, taken to hospital in a stable condition
  • Uninjured (but hospital tested): 66-year-old male tractor driver, 33-year-old male semi-trailer driver
  • Animal Casualties: One horse euthanised due to injuries; three others transported for treatment

Crash Description
Emergency services responded to the collision involving three vehicles, including a horse truck towing a caravan. An unidentified bystander rendered first aid to the 14-year-old boy before paramedics arrived, but the teen sadly died at the scene.

Investigation
Police have established a crime scene, and all involved drivers have undergone mandatory testing. Authorities are focusing on piecing together the circumstances leading to the crash.
