A tragic series of crashes occurred across Sydney over the past few days, resulting in the deaths of two young males and critical injuries to two others , including a 15-year-old boy .
The first incident involved a fatal collision at the intersection of Hume Highway and Worth Street in Greenacre , about 20 km west of the Sydney CBD , on Thursday, May 31, 2025 , at approximately 8:10 pm . A hatchback collided with a truck , killing a 15-year-old boy who was a passenger . Another boy, also believed to be a passenger , was taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital in critical condition , while the driver of the hatchback , a woman, was also transported to hospital in critical condition . A third passenger was taken to the same hospital in stable condition . The male truck driver was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing .
The Hume Highway remained closed eastbound as police investigated the crash.
A second tragic incident occurred earlier in the week when a woman in her 40s was struck by a ute in Penrith , Sydney’s west , and left at the scene. The driver allegedly fled without stopping — a hit-and-run .
Meanwhile, an 85-year-old man died from injuries sustained in a car collision on Tuesday, May 28, 2025 , on Dee Why Pde, Dee Why , after being struck by a vehicle. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in critical condition , but passed away the next day. The 75-year-old driver of the car was not injured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing .
Queensland and NSW Police are urging anyone with dashcam footage or witness accounts of these incidents to come forward.
