Incident Overview
Western Australia Police reported that three people were charged after an alleged evade-police incident in South Perth on the night of Thursday, 9 July 2026. The police account states that a silver Holden Commodore later left the road and struck a fence.
Location and Time
Police said officers attempted to stop the Commodore on Canning Highway at about 8.45pm. The vehicle then crashed into a fence near the intersection of Mill Point Road. A contemporaneous 7NEWS report described the fence location as near Way Road.
People and Vehicles Involved
The official release identifies the vehicle as a silver Holden Commodore. It says a 37-year-old Safety Bay man, a 32-year-old Calista woman and a 34-year-old Medina man were arrested. Police did not name them.
Injuries and Fatalities
The WA Police release and the 7NEWS report did not state that anyone was injured in the fence crash. Neither source reported a fatality.
Emergency Response
According to police, officers activated emergency lights and sirens when they sought to stop the car. The release says the male driver was arrested after the crash. Police further alleged that a female then tried to drive the damaged car away and was also arrested.
Police Investigation
Police alleged the driver failed to stop and drove recklessly before the crash. They said methylamphetamine was located in the vehicle. The 37-year-old was charged with reckless driving, having no authority to drive, failing to stop after property damage and failing to comply with a direction to stop. The woman and second man faced separate charges listed by police.
