Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious traffic crash on the Pacific Motorway at Oxenford this morning.

Investigations indicate that a 24-year-old Bonogin man was riding his motorcycle southbound along the M1 when he lost control and come off the bike, sustaining internal injuries.

Paramedics transported the man to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition, where his condition was upgraded to critical.

One lane of the highway remained closed until 1.30pm, causing significant congestion.

The Forensic Crash Unit is now appealing for any witnesses – or anyone who may have captured dash-camera footage – of the incident, to come forward.

Investigations continue.
