Incident Overview

Queensland Police are investigating a serious crash at the intersection of Ross River Road and Alice Street at Cranbrook, Townsville, on Thursday, 20 August 2026. Officers were called at about 10am. The preliminary police account is that a Kawasaki Ninja 300 motorcycle and a Toyota Camry collided at the intersection.

The Forensic Crash Unit is examining the circumstances of the collision. The information released by police is preliminary and does not set out a final cause of the crash or any legal responsibility.

Injuries and Response

The motorcycle rider, a 33-year-old man from Currajong, was taken to Townsville University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the Camry driver, an 81-year-old Cranbrook man, was not physically injured. The QPS release does not provide further information about the motorcyclist’s condition or treatment.
