Incident Overview
Police are appealing for public assistance following a serious traffic crash involving a motorcycle and two utilities at Purga, south of Ipswich. The collision occurred late morning on 3 January when a blue utility and a black motorcycle collided on Ipswich–Boonah Road, causing the rider to then collide with a second utility. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

  • Black motorcycle — ridden northbound toward Yamanto
  • Blue utility — involved in the initial collision
  • Second utility — struck after the rider was displaced

Injuries/Fatalities

  • Critical/Serious Injuries:
    • Motorcycle rider — sustained serious injuries and was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

  • Police and emergency services attended Ipswich–Boonah Road following reports of the collision.
  • The injured rider was treated and transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Police Investigation
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

  • Police say the rider was travelling with two other motorcyclists at the time.
  • Investigators are examining vehicle movements and the sequence of impacts.
  • Dashcam and CCTV footage from the area is being sought.
