Incident Overview

A 40-year-old woman from Woodville South, Adelaide, was found unconscious behind the wheel of her car after a minor collision in Beverley on August 10, 2024. The incident occurred just after 2 pm.

Details of the Incident

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered a bottle of wine had fallen out of the car when they opened the driver’s door. The woman also vomited. A subsequent blood test revealed a shocking blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.416, one of the highest ever recorded in South Australia. A BAC of 0.4 or above can be fatal.

Charges and Consequences

The woman has been charged with drink driving and aggravated driving without due care. Her car has been impounded, and her license has been suspended for one year. She is due to appear in court at a later date.

Conclusion

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drink driving. The woman’s BAC was dangerously high and could have easily resulted in her death or the death of others. It is fortunate that no one was seriously injured in the crash.
