Incident Overview
A 72-year-old Kingston woman died after being struck by a vehicle at Runcorn on Sunday, 28 June 2026. Police later charged a 30-year-old Kingston man.
Location and Time
The collision occurred on Beenleigh Road shortly before 7.30pm.
Reported Sequence
Police allege that a blue utility struck the pedestrian while travelling east and that the driver continued from the scene. The vehicle believed to be involved was found burnt out on Avalon Road at Sheldon a short time later.
The woman sustained critical injuries and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Charges
Police located the 30-year-old man at a Bahrs Scrub address on 3 July. He was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and leaving the scene without obtaining help, damaging evidence with intent, and driving while disqualified by court order. Police refused bail and said he was due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on 4 July.
Legal Status
The charges are allegations. The accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
