Incident Overview

Queensland Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic crash in Fassifern that occurred on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Details of the Fassifern Crash

Initial investigations indicate that around 6:40 pm, a utility was traveling east along the Cunningham Highway when it crossed onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The passenger in the utility, a 36-year-old Boonah woman, was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital but tragically passed away upon arrival.

The utility driver, a 34-year-old Mount French man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is assisting police with their inquiries. The truck driver, a 67-year-old Tenterfield man, was not physically injured.

Police Appeal

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash, particularly those who were interviewed by officers at the scene, to come forward. Additionally, anyone who saw the utility, a white two-door 2003 Mazda B2600, before the crash is also encouraged to contact the police.
