Incident Overview
Police have released images of the two vehicles involved in the fatal crash at Doomadgee on Friday, November 7, 2025, as the investigation continues into the tragedy that claimed the lives of a 30-year-old Cloncurry woman and her 10-year-old daughter.

Emergency services were called to Doomadgee Road around 6:30 am following reports of a serious crash involving a black 2011 Nissan Maxima and a white 2006 Toyota LandCruiser.

The driver and four passengers of the LandCruiser were found with serious injuries.

The 30-year-old female driver and a 10-year-old girl died from their injuries.

Three other passengers — a 1-year-old boy, 3-year-old girl, and 4-year-old boy — were transported to hospital for treatment.

A 28-year-old Doomadgee man, known to the deceased, remains in police custody after being arrested shortly after the crash.

  • Black 2011 Nissan Maxima — vehicle under police investigation; driver in custody.
  • White 2006 Toyota LandCruiser — carrying the deceased mother and her four children.

Injuries/Fatalities

  • Fatalities:
    • 30-year-old Cloncurry woman — driver of the LandCruiser; died at the scene.
    • 10-year-old girl — passenger; transported to Doomadgee Hospital and declared deceased.
  • Injured:
    • 1-year-old boy — transported to hospital.
    • 3-year-old girl — transported to hospital.
    • 4-year-old boy — transported to hospital, reported in critical condition.

Emergency Response

  • Emergency services responded within minutes of reports of the crash, finding the LandCruiser heavily damaged and its occupants critically injured.
  • Paramedics provided urgent medical care on-site before transporting the surviving children to **Doomadgee Hospital**, with some later **airlifted to Townsville** for specialist treatment.
  • Police established a **crime scene**, impounded both vehicles for forensic analysis, and commenced interviews with witnesses and community members.
  • Support officers and counsellors were deployed to assist the Doomadgee community through the aftermath of the tragedy.

Police Investigation
The Forensic Crash Unit, supported by homicide and major crime investigators from Mount Isa, Townsville, and Brisbane, is investigating the circumstances leading to the collision.

  • The **sequence of impact** between the Nissan Maxima and the Toyota LandCruiser.
  • Movements and interactions involving the vehicles **prior to the crash**.
  • Witness reports and community statements from those who saw either vehicle travelling in the area between **6–7 November**.
  • Evidence retrieved from the crash scene and forensic analysis of vehicle damage.

Investigators have appealed to anyone who saw the black Nissan Maxima or the white Toyota LandCruiser on or near Doomadgee Road in the hours before the crash to contact police.

Community Impact
The deaths of the young mother and her daughter have devastated the Doomadgee Aboriginal community, prompting widespread mourning and the continuation of Sorry Business rituals.

Authorities, including local elders and police, are working closely with residents to maintain calm and ensure cultural respect throughout the investigation.

The Dumaji Festival of Arts and Culture, scheduled for that weekend, was cancelled following the crash, and several community businesses closed temporarily in remembrance.
