Incident Overview

A 40-year-old woman died after a collision involving her and two vehicles on the Great Northern Highway near Peak Hill on Thursday, 25 June 2026. WA Police said the crash was under investigation.

Location and Time

ABC News, citing WA Police, reported that the incident occurred just before 1pm near Peak Hill, about 120 kilometres north of Meekatharra in Western Australia’s Midwest. Police said the woman and a man had stopped their white Holden Colorado on the northbound side of the highway at about 12.55pm.

People and Vehicles Involved

Police said the woman left the Holden Colorado and approached two other vehicles: a stationary south-facing road train and a northbound SsangYong Musso towing a caravan. Police said a collision then occurred involving the woman and those two vehicles. The Musso driver was reported uninjured.

Injuries and Fatalities

The woman sustained critical injuries and died at the scene, according to police. The public report did not identify her, disclose injuries to any other person, or state whether anyone else required medical treatment.

ABC News also reported a separate later death in Meekatharra involving the woman’s travelling companion. That matter was being investigated separately as a death in police presence and is not treated here as a finding about the highway collision.
