The collision happened when a white Nissan Pathfinder stopped on the side of the highway after a toolbox fell from its tray. Two other cars pulled over to assist, and four people were standing outside their vehicles when a fourth vehicle, a Holden Trailblazer, collided into the back of the stopped cars, hitting the pedestrians.
Injuries and Aftermath
Ten people were injured in the crash, including five adults and five children. A 35-year-old woman from Freeling was taken to the hospital in a critical condition. Three other adults sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The condition of the children is currently unknown. Major Crash Investigators attended the scene to assist with the investigation. The highway was temporarily closed but has since reopened.
