A 58-year-old motorcyclist, Kym Liebig, has been killed in a four-vehicle crash in Hindmarsh, Adelaide. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2025, near the entrance to the North-South Motorway and has resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old man.

Vehicles Involved

The crash involved four vehicles: a black Suzuki motorcycle ridden by Kym Liebig, a white Holden Commodore, a Mazda ute, and an unidentified fourth vehicle.

Crash Description

A white Holden Commodore traveling south allegedly crashed through fencing on the median strip, crossing onto the wrong side of the road and colliding with the oncoming motorcycle and two other vehicles. Witnesses reported that Liebig was thrown from his motorcycle and then struck by the Mazda ute.

Injuries/Fatalities

Kym Liebig, 58, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services. The driver of the Holden Commodore was arrested, and the occupants of the other vehicles involved may have sustained injuries, although the report doesn’t provide specifics.

Emergency Response

Emergency services, including police and paramedics, attended the scene. Despite their attempts to revive him, Kym Liebig could not be saved.

Investigation and Charges

Major Crash officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The 44-year-old driver of the Holden Commodore, from Park Holme, was arrested at the scene and charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on March 19, 2025.

Road Closure

South Road was closed in both directions for several hours following the crash, causing significant traffic disruption in the area. The road was later reopened.
