The crash took place on Monday, August 5th, 2024, at approximately 9:30 AM on the Eyre Highway at Koongawa, 20 kilometers east of Kyancutta near the Goyder’s Line monument. The motorcyclist collided with the Dodge Ram ute, resulting in his death.

The 78-year-old motorcyclist, who was from the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), tragically lost his life at the scene of the crash. Three occupants of the Dodge Ram ute sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

South Australian Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. As a result of the crash and ongoing investigation, the Eyre Highway was closed between Kimba and Kyancutta. One closure still remains at the intersection of the Eyre Highway and Balumbah-Kinnard Road. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
