Incident Overview
A 52-year-old motorcyclist has died following a multi-vehicle crash involving two cars and a motorcycle on Tamborine Mountain Rd in Queensland’s Scenic Rim. Six people were injured in the collision, with several initially reported to be in life-threatening conditions.

  • Fatalities:
    • 52-year-old man, motorcycle rider, airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition and later died.
  • Injuries:
    • 22-year-old man, Subaru passenger, airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
    • 25-year-old man, Subaru passenger, airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
    • 25-year-old man, Subaru driver, transported to hospital with serious injuries.
    • 72-year-old man, Nissan X-Trail occupant, transported to hospital with serious injuries; was earlier reported trapped before being freed.
    • 70-year-old woman, Nissan X-Trail occupant, transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency Response

  • Queensland Ambulance Service and other emergency services attended, including three rescue helicopters.
  • Multiple patients were airlifted, including the motorcyclist to Gold Coast University Hospital; others were transported to hospital by ambulance and air.
  • Tamborine Mountain Rd was closed in both directions for much of the day, reopening late Sunday afternoon.

Police Investigation
Officers from the Logan Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the circumstances. Initial investigations indicate a white 2005 Subaru Liberty travelling south collided with a grey BMW motorcycle and a grey Nissan X-Trail travelling north.

  • No charges have been announced.
  • No court appearances have been announced.

Community Impact
The crash caused lengthy closures on Tamborine Mountain Rd, a winding hinterland route known for narrow lanes, sharp bends and steep sections, disrupting travel through the area.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant dashcam/CCTV vision from the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
