Incident Overview

A 22-year-old Burpengary motorcyclist died in a multi-vehicle collision on the Bruce Highway at Morayfield on Sunday, 21 June 2026. Police later charged a 17-year-old boy.

Location and Time

The fatal collision occurred near the Buchanan Road off-ramp at about 1.30am.

Police Allegations

Police allege that a multi-coloured SUV was travelling south in convoy with a white utility at about 1.20am. It is further alleged that the SUV was driven dangerously before striking a guardrail and stopping in the right lane. Police allege its occupants then left in the white utility.

Collision Sequence

Police said the motorcycle subsequently struck the abandoned SUV. A silver utility then also collided with the motorcycle and SUV.

Fatality and Injuries

The 22-year-old rider died at the scene. His 18-year-old pillion passenger was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serious injuries in a stable condition. The 52-year-old silver-utility driver was taken to Caboolture Hospital with minor injuries.

Charges

A 17-year-old Burpengary East boy was charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm and one count of endangering the safe use of vehicles and related transport infrastructure. He was due to appear in Caboolture Children’s Court on 1 July. The charges are allegations, and the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
