A manhunt is underway in Melbourne for a driver who allegedly fled the scene after a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 19-year-old motorcyclist, Davide Pollina. The incident occurred in Preston early Sunday morning and has contributed to Victoria’s alarmingly high road death toll.
Crash Overview
The fatal collision happened at the intersection of Bell Street and Victoria Street in Preston at around 12:40 AM on August 11th, 2024. Davide Pollina was riding his motorcycle when it collided with a stolen BMW.
Fatality and Arrest
Tragically, Davide Pollina died at the scene despite the efforts of police officers who performed CPR. Two occupants of the BMW fled on foot. A 16-year-old boy, believed to be a passenger in the BMW, was arrested and later released pending further investigation.
