Incident Overview
A 73-year-old Bli Bli man died after a utility entered the water at a Maroochydore shopping centre carpark on Sunday evening, 7 June 2026.
Location and Time
Emergency services were called to the Ocean Street carpark shortly after 7.30pm following reports that a vehicle had entered the water.
Vehicle Involved
Initial police investigations indicate that a white utility travelled into the water and became submerged.
Emergency Response
Police and other emergency services attended the scene and rescued the driver from the submerged vehicle.
The driver, a 73-year-old Bli Bli man, was later declared deceased at the scene.
Police Investigation
Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident. No cause was stated in the official report.
