A teenage boy is in critical condition with life-threatening head injuries after a serious e-scooter accident in Helensvale, Gold Coast. The incident involved a young woman who also sustained injuries.

The accident occurred around 9:15 am on Monday at the intersection of Latrobe Avenue and Bowen Court in Helensvale. The teenage boy and the young woman were both riding the e-scooter when they crashed while descending a hill.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the 13-year-old boy with significant head injuries. He was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in critical condition. The 20-year-old woman sustained abrasions and was also transported to the same hospital in stable condition.

While the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman Ken Hall noted that the pair were riding the e-scooter down a hill when they lost control. It’s unclear whether they were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
