A Holden Commodore carrying four occupants collided head-on with a Toyota Hilux utility travelling in the opposite direction. The incident has significantly impacted the local community and contributed to a grim weekend toll on Queensland roads.

Injuries/Fatalities
- Fatalities:
- 28-year-old man (driver of the Commodore)
- 6-year-old boy (Commodore passenger)
- 7-year-old girl (Commodore passenger)
- 32-year-old man (Commodore passenger)
- Serious Injuries:
- 28-year-old man (Hilux driver) – transported to hospital in serious but stable condition
- 27-year-old man (Hilux passenger) – airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in critical condition
Emergency Response
- Multiple QAS units and QFES vehicles attended the crash site
- Both vehicles were alight when emergency services arrived
- Capricorn Highway was closed in both directions for several hours while the Forensic Crash Unit conducted scene investigations
Investigation
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating:
- The circumstances leading to the collision, including whether the Commodore was overtaking at the time
- Factors such as speed, driver behaviour, and road conditions
- Eyewitness accounts and dashcam footage from passing motorists on the Capricorn Highway around 10:50 am
