Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating a crash in which two people died in Mount Marlow this afternoon.

Preliminary investigations indicate at 1.06pm a Nissan Navara was headed east on Shute Harbour Road when it has collided with a Toyota Landcruiser travelling in the opposite direction.

Two passengers in the Nissan died at the scene, a 60-year-old woman and 35-year-old woman.

The male driver and a male passenger of the Nissan were transported to hospital with the driver remaining in a critical condition.

Two men and two women travelling in the Toyota Landcruiser were all taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations are continuing.
