A girl has died following a single vehicle traffic crash at New Beith last weekend.

Preliminary information indicates just before midnight on Saturday October 8, a 1989 red ford Maverick 4WD was travelling north along New Beith Road, when it left the roadway and entered a culvert.

A 16-year-old female passenger, a Daisy Hill girl, was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where she passed away from her injuries last night.

The 17-year-old male driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

Forensic Crash Unit investigators are appealing for witnesses, especially those with dashcam vision of the crash or the moments leading up to it to come forward.
