A woman has died following a vehicle and pedestrian traffic crash in Marsden tonight.

Preliminary investigations indicate around 6.50pm, the 66-year-old Marsden woman was crossing the road on Third Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle.

She sustained critical injuries and passed away at the scene.

Police have spoken with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 42-year-old Kingston man, and investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, is urged to contact police.
