The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash in Cooyar yesterday, December 23.

Emergency services were called to New England Highway at the intersection of Kingaroy-Cooyar Road just after 2.30pm.

A silver Toyota Rav4 was traveling eastbound on Kingaroy-Cooyar Road, when it sideswiped a grey Subaru Outback that was travelling in the opposite direction.

The Rav 4 continued on before crashing into a tree and rolling.

The driver of the Rav4, a 66-year-old Torquay man sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.
