A motorcyclist has died in hospital from injuries sustained in a crash with an e-scooter at Airlie Beach in late April.

Preliminary information indicates around 4.15pm on Wednesday April 19, a red Kawasaki motorbike was travelling eastbound along Shute Harbour Road at the roundabout connecting Waterson Way when a collision occurred with a chrome e-scooter travelling on the road, in the same direction.

The rider of the e-scooter, a 30-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

The motorcyclist, an 83-year-old Jubilee Pocket man was transported in a critical condition and passed away from his injuries this morning.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward, especially motorists with dashcam vison and local businesses with CCTV.
