A distressing multi-vehicle accident occurred on the Old Hume Highway in Camden South, leading to the death of a man and complex traffic issues in southwest Sydney.

Details of the Crash
The incident unfolded around 1 PM on Friday when a hatchback and a station wagon collided while traveling north on the Camden Bypass. The collision propelled the hatchback into the opposite lane, where it was hit by a sedan and then a 4WD, resulting in catastrophic damages and the death of the hatchback’s driver, a man in his 30s.

Casualties and Immediate Response
The drivers of the sedan and the 4WD were taken to Camden Hospital for mandatory testing following the crash. The area saw considerable traffic disruption as emergency services and police secured the scene and initiated an investigation into the crash.

Legal Actions Taken
Following preliminary investigations, the 56-year-old driver of the station wagon was arrested and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving. He was granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Picton Local Court soon.

Traffic Impact and Road Reopening
The Camden Bypass was temporarily closed between the Old Hume Highway and Macarthur Road, causing significant traffic delays. The road has since been reopened, and traffic flow has returned to normal.
