The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Pleystowe Connection Road in Mackay this afternoon (January 10).

Initial investigations indicate the rider, a 27-year-old Beaconsfield man, was riding as part of a group when he collided with a trailer attached to a vehicle travelling north just after 1.40pm.

The other riders and members of the public came to his aid, however he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Pleystowe Connection Road was closed for several hours as investigators carried out their work, however, has now re-opened to traffic.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have relevant dash-camera footage, or CCTV from the area, to contact them.

Investigations are ongoing.
