The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a motorbike rider died following a two-vehicle traffic crash in Yalboroo, north of Mackay, this morning, September 16.
Initial investigations indicate at approximately 11.45am, a blue Toyota Corolla was travelling south along the Bruce Highway when it turned onto Cathu O’Connell River Road in front of a motorbike which was travelling in the opposite direction.
The rider, a 71-year-old Bakers Creek man, was pronounced deceased a short time later on route to hospital.
The driver and only occupant of the car, a 28-year-old New South Wales man, was not physically injured and is currently assisting police with investigations.
Witnesses or anyone with relevant vision is urged to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.
