Incident Overview
A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on Monday morning, 21 July 2025, along Mount Darragh Road in Mount Darragh, approximately one hour southwest of Bega in New South Wales. The crash claimed the life of a young male passenger.

Injuries/Fatalities

  • Deceased: Male front-seat passenger, aged in his 20s, died at the scene
  • Injured: Male driver, also aged in his 20s, sustained internal injuries and was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition after initial treatment at Bega Hospital

Crash Description
Initial investigations by NSW Police indicate the vehicle left the roadway and crashed down an embankment before colliding with a tree. Emergency services responded quickly, but the passenger was pronounced deceased on site. The driver was stabilised and transported for further medical treatment.

Road and Traffic Impacts
Mount Darragh Road was closed in both directions for several hours.

  • Traffic diversions were put in place via the Snowy Mountains Highway and Imlay Road

Investigation
A full investigation is underway. NSW Police have confirmed a report will be prepared for the Coroner. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
