A tragic single-vehicle crash at Hat Head, New South Wales, claimed the lives of 26-year-old Jendaya Stewart and her two-year-old daughter Lillyannah on the morning of Wednesday, 10 July 2025.

Crash Description
According to NSW Police, the vehicle crashed into a tree along Hat Head Road and caught fire. Emergency services responded promptly and extinguished the blaze but tragically discovered the bodies of the mother and daughter inside the car.

Road and Traffic Impacts

  • Hat Head Road was closed for several hours as emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.

Investigation
NSW Police are continuing Investigations into the cause of the crash. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Victim Tribute
Jendaya Stewart, known as “Jenny” or “Jen,” was a Biripi and Thunggutti woman and an active figure in her community, working in land conservation, bush regeneration, and cultural education. She had also served with the Rural Fire Service during the 2020 bushfires and participated in NAIDOC events and community arts.

Her daughter, Lillyannah, was remembered as a joyful and deeply loved child, frequently featured in Stewart’s social media as they bonded over cultural practices and motherhood milestones.
