Introduction: A driver sustained serious injuries in a hit-and-run accident in Eltham, Melbourne, after another vehicle crossed a median strip and collided with him. The incident occurred on Main Road, prompting a police investigation and subsequent apprehension of the suspect.

Crash Overview: The collision took place at 1:35 pm on Thursday on Main Road in Eltham. A white Nissan Patrol failed to navigate a left turn from Fitzsimons Lane onto Main Road, instead driving over the median strip and crashing into the driver’s side door of a blue Holden station wagon.

Tragic Outcome and Emergency Response: The 34-year-old driver of the Holden station wagon, from Fitzroy North, sustained serious injuries in the crash. Emergency services responded to the scene, and the injured driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigation and Apprehension: The driver of the Nissan Patrol fled the scene after the collision, continuing to drive into oncoming traffic. However, later on Thursday evening, a man in his 60s contacted the police in relation to the crash. He was taken into custody and interviewed but has since been released pending further inquiries.
