Incident Overview
A high-speed collision occurred on Sydney’s M2 motorway at Macquarie Park around 3:30 pm on Saturday, September 20, 2025. A northbound bus carrying almost 30 passengers slammed into the back of an SUV with five occupants while travelling in a 100km/h zone near the Lane Cove Road overpass. Eleven people, including two children, were transported to hospital. Four remain in a serious condition.

  • Two bus occupants were trapped; the bus driver was freed after one-and-a-half hours of rescue operations.
  • Eleven people were transported to hospital, four in serious condition.

  • Whether driver fatigue, distraction, or mechanical failure contributed to the collision.
  • Statements from passengers, SUV occupants, and witnesses at the scene.
  • Dashcam/CCTV footage from motorists travelling on the M2 near Macquarie Park at the time.

The crash caused widespread disruption on Sydney’s M2 motorway during the afternoon peak, leaving traffic backed up for kilometres.
