Despite efforts by a passer-by and paramedics to save him, the man died at the scene . The 59-year-old male driver of the vehicle involved was uninjured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing and is currently assisting police with their investigation.

Authorities have established a crime scene and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward as part of their inquiry. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
