Drunk Driver Sentenced
A 41-year-old Queensland man, Kevin John Bowen, has been sentenced to more than six years in jail for a fatal crash on the Bruce Highway. The crash, which occurred in August 2022, resulted in the death of 68-year-old Tasmanian man, John Perkins.

Bowen pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death. The court heard that Bowen had been drinking and playing pokies for six hours before the crash. He veered onto the wrong side of the highway twice, ultimately colliding with Mr. Perkins’ vehicle. Bowen’s blood alcohol level was later found to be at least 0.233 per cent.
