Incident Overview
A fatal head-on collision occurred on Sunday, June 13, 2025, at approximately 2:40 am on Newcastle Road, near North Lambton, Newcastle, leaving one woman dead and a pregnant driver without her unborn child.

The crash involved a Holden sedan that was spotted by officers driving dangerously and failed to stop when signalled. Police did not pursue due to safety risks. The vehicle allegedly crossed to the wrong side of the road before colliding head-on with a Hyundai sedan.

A 55-year-old woman, a passenger in the Hyundai, was declared dead at the scene. The driver, a 28-year-old woman who was 25 weeks pregnant, was taken to John Hunter Hospital in serious condition and later lost her unborn child.

The Holden’s driver and a 17-year-old front passenger fled the scene, leaving two teenage girls (aged 15 and 17) in the back seat. Both were hospitalised under police guard and remain in critical condition.
