Incident Overview

A 55-year-old woman, a passenger in the Hyundai, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 28-year-old driver25 weeks pregnant, was rushed to John Hunter Hospital in serious condition and later lost her unborn child.
The driver of the Holden and a 17-year-old front passenger fled the scene on foot, leaving two teenage girls — aged 15 and 17 — in the back seat. Both were taken to hospital under police guard and remain in critical condition.
