Incident Overview
A 38-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly driving a Mazda BT-50 dual cab towards a police officer and ramming a parked police vehicle on Todd Street in Alice Springs. The incident occurred at approximately 10.30pm on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, whilst officers were responding to reports of disturbances involving multiple people. An officer fired three shots at the oncoming vehicle before it crashed into the rear of the police car with significant force, pushing it several metres forward. The officer seated in the patrol car sustained minor injuries and was discharged from Alice Springs Hospital. The alleged offender was also taken to hospital for precautionary assessment.

Police Investigation
A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing. Police allege the 38-year-old man drove the dual cab towards an officer standing on the road and footpath, as well as the parked police vehicle.
