Crash Description

The car, driven by the woman, mounted the curb and struck a teenage boy who was walking nearby. The car then collided with five parked vehicles before coming to a stop.

Injuries

The driver of the car sustained upper and lower body injuries and is in critical condition. The teenage boy who was struck by the car also sustained serious injuries. No one else was injured in the crash.

Emergency Response

Emergency services, including police and paramedics, attended the scene. A bystander, Greg Gardener, provided first aid to the injured teenager before paramedics arrived.

Transport of Injured

Both the teenager and the driver were transported to Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Road Closures and Traffic Disruption

The crash caused major road closures and significant delays to peak-hour traffic heading into the CBD. All westbound lanes of Victoria Parade were closed between Nicholson Street and Spring Street, and northbound lanes of Nicholson Street were closed between Albert Street and Victoria Parade. The Department of Transport advised drivers to avoid the area.

Public Transport Disruption

Tram services on routes 86, 96, and 30 were also disrupted and not operating in the area due to the crash and road closures.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
