On May 26, 2024, a tragic crash occurred on Milperra Road in Milperra, Sydney. A DiDi rideshare vehicle carrying a family of three collided with a ute, resulting in the deaths of 41-year-old Thai Duong and his 12-year-old daughter, Haili. The father and his two children were passengers in the backseat of the DiDi vehicle when the collision occurred.

The impact of the crash tragically killed the father and daughter at the scene. The father’s 10-year-old son, Justin, who was also in the backseat, survived the crash and was taken to hospital. The 52-year-old DiDi driver sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized, while the 19-year-old ute driver suffered minor injuries.
Charges Laid
After a four-month investigation, the DiDi driver has been charged with two counts of negligent driving occasioning death and two counts of causing bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle. He was granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Bankstown Local Court on November 6, 2024.
