Crash Description

A car, driven by a woman in her 40s, veered off the road and collided with a group of cyclists who were participating in a race on Long Swamp Road. After hitting the cyclists, the car then crashed into a tree. The car subsequently caught fire, but the flames were extinguished by fire services.

Injuries/Fatalities

One cyclist died at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released. Four other cyclists were injured in the crash. The female driver of the car was also injured and was trapped in the vehicle for a short time before being freed by emergency services. She was reported to be in critical condition.

Emergency Response

Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and fire services, responded to the scene. The injured cyclists and the driver were treated at the scene, and those with serious injuries were transported to the hospital.

Investigation

Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Long Swamp Road was closed near the intersection of Edwards Road while investigations were underway.
