A two-car collision on the Hume Freeway in Kalkallo, Melbourne’s north, resulted in one of the vehicles crashing into the verandah of the Kalkallo Hotel. The incident occurred on Tuesday night and caused significant damage to the pub and injuries to two people.

The collision took place on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, at approximately 9:30 PM on the Hume Freeway in Kalkallo. Two cars collided, with the impact sending one of the vehicles off the road and into the verandah of the Kalkallo Hotel, located near the freeway.
Injuries and Medical Response
The driver of the car that crashed into the pub, a man in his 20s, was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with an upper body injury. He is reported to be in stable condition. A woman in her 30s, who was also in the car, was transported to the same hospital, and her condition is currently unknown.
Investigation and Property Damage
Police are investigating the cause of the initial collision on the Hume Freeway. The car that hit the pub sustained extensive damage, with the bonnet crumpled and the boot damaged by the verandah post. The pub itself also suffered significant damage to its verandah.
