Crash Description
The stolen car, driven at high speed, crashed near the official residence of the Prime Minister. It rolled multiple times and landed on its roof. Summerrell-Jenkins and the alleged teen driver fled the scene in a second vehicle. Police described the vehicle’s behaviour as “reckless,” with recorded speeds up to 130 km/h in residential zones.

Court Proceedings
Summerrell-Jenkins pleaded guilty to six charges including:

  • Aggravated dangerous driving
  • Driving while disqualified
  • Travelling in stolen vehicles

The court heard that he had limited recollection of events due to drug use and was attempting rehabilitation in custody. His sentence totals 28 months in jail, with parole eligibility in November 2025 due to time already served.

Magistrate’s Remarks
Chief Magistrate Lorraine Walker described the behaviour as “inherently dangerous” and stated that Summerrell-Jenkins “continues to be a danger to the community.” She encouraged him to use his prison term to overcome his issues:
“Try to use this time to get yourself as straight as possible.”

Investigation
A four-month police investigation led to three individuals being charged in connection with the crash. The alleged driver is facing manslaughter charges, and a third man was also charged.
