Incident Overview
A devastating crash occurred on the M1 northbound at Gaven in the early hours of Sunday, September 21, 2025. At approximately 2:50 am, a silver Jeep Cherokee parked on the motorway shoulder near the Smith Street on-ramp was struck by a grey Toyota Hilux. A baby boy travelling in the Jeep was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital but tragically died a short time later. The driver of the Jeep, a 24-year-old woman from Ormeau Hills, was taken to hospital in a serious condition. The Hilux driver, a 51-year-old Loganlea man, sustained minor injuries.
