Police are appealing for witnesses after a moped rider was critically injured in a two-vehicle traffic crash at Silkstone in Ipswich yesterday, July 10.
Emergency services were called at approximately 4.10pm following reports of a crash involving a red moped and a white utility at the intersection of Blackstone Road and Church Street.
Upon arrival, the moped rider, a 17-year-old Raceview boy, was located with life-threatening injuries.
He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
A passenger inside the utility, a 14-year-old boy, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.
The utility driver, a 41-year-old Silkstone man, was not physically injured and is continuing to assist police with investigations.
Police are appealing to witnesses, particularly anyone who saw the red Kymco Agility 50 moped or white Mitsubishi Triton utility prior to the crash, to come forward.
Anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam vision is also urged to contact police.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
