Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit-and-run traffic crash in Morningside overnight.

Preliminary investigations indicate at midnight, a silver Toyota Camry was travelling along Beelarong Street when it struck a roadworker near Junction Road.

The Toyota Camry continued on Junction Road for a short time before crashing into a power pole.

The driver fled the scene on foot.

The roadworker, a 27-year-old man, was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any relevant dashcam footage is urged to come forward.
