The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a hit-and-run traffic crash at Marcus Beach, on the Sunshine Coast, this morning.

Initial investigations indicate just before 5am, a black Harley Davidson motorcycle was struck by a Grey Honda CR-V with Queensland registration 831FC3 on David Low Way.

As a result of the collision, the rider, a 58-year-old Pinbarren man, was thrown from the motorcycle.

He was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the Honda did not remain at the scene following the collision and is believed to have travelled south along David Low Way.

The Honda was later found abandoned on Peregian Esplanade, near Avocet Parade and David Low Way.

A 35-year-old Peregian Beach woman is now assisting police with their enquires.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have CCTV or dashcam vision of the area around the time of the incident to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
